Internet Safety Awareness

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

On Wednesday the 21st of October, a member of the child protection team from Derby City Council came in to talk to us about internet safety. He showed the school a video about how important it is to not talk to people you don’t know on the internet and not to expose any personal information and/or photos. He also recommended a website that we can go on to learn more.

We also have some Internet Links on our school website, in the Learning Zone/links.

Tea and Toast at Oakwood

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

This week we held our first  Tea and Toast event of the new school year. It was just for year threes and their parents, grandparents, guardians to come to school and join us for a cup of  tea and a slice or two of toast. It was a great success and 120 people showed up!

Piramid Visit

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Last week we welcomed the Piramid group into school for an afternoon of activities and to share memories of ‘Bygone’ schooldays with our children’s current experiences.

We had a fabulous afternoon, with tea and cakes (of course!) and hope to repeat the event in the not too distant future.
