Money Week

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

Last week was a normal week here, but actually there’s never a’ normal’ week at Oakwood Junior School. Every year we have two events close together: enterprise and money week. During Money Week we learnt about: taxes, bills, managing  money and much more. Two programs were created by year 5 and year 6, Year 3 went on a fact finding mission to McDonalds. Yum!

Oakwood’s Enterprise

Tuesday, February 15th, 2011

For the next two weeks we are doing enterprise, this is where we make a product, sell it and try to make a profit. This is a little  like ‘Dragons   Den’  with the enterprise market held on the final day of the two weeks. On the market morning we try to sell all our products with the winners being announced in the afternoon.

A Midsummer Nights Dream

Friday, February 4th, 2011

This week  year 6 went to the Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton, to watch an enchanting fairy tale called A Midsummer Nights Dream. We went there because we have been focusing on some of Shakespeare’s plays.

At the beginning of the play, Puck the mischievous fairy was telling us what was happening around Athens, then the cast all began to sing and the story began. We enjoyed the singing because it was really jolly and well sung. Our favorite bit was when the forest lit up and the fairies came to life, it was magical. We enjoyed everything because it was all enchanting and hilarious at some parts. The last song Puck sang was brilliant and heart warming because he had a really sweet voice.

We enjoyed the performance and definitely recommend it for others as it is incredibly funny and is great to watch with the family. If you love romance and comedies then this is exactly the play for you!
