New York by Class 4

Saturday, September 24th, 2011

In Year 4 we have been learning about New York. We have learnt a lot of new facts about New York and about different places to visit. These places include Ground Zero, Times Square, The Brooklyn Bridge, the 5 boroughs of New York and The Statue of Liberty.

In art we have been creating our own New York skyline using a barcode style.

On Friday we are looking forward to our annual sponsored walk, we hope it will be a lovely afternoon.

Welcome Back by Class 10

Saturday, September 24th, 2011

Class 10 are really pleased to be back from the summer holidays and are enjoying the responsibility that comes with being in Year 6! Top of the school! We’ve kick started another exciting year at Oakwood by learning about WW2, this term’s topic. We have been studying how WW11 began, a bit about the main leaders and how children survived during the bombing of cities by being evacuated, just like the main character of the book we’re reading; Goodnight Mr Tom. We are looking forward to what this topic has in store for us.

Some teachers from Noel Baker are coming to talk to us next week about going to Secondary School…scary!

We’re also looking forward to our sponsored walk on Friday. We always really enjoy this event and hope we raise lots of money for school resources!
