Class 4

Tuesday, January 29th, 2013

On Wednesday Rev. Tim came to our school to talk about the weather and how the world was made. He used Lego to explain what he was saying. He told us this;

First god made heaven and earth. Then god said ‘let there be light’ and to his amazement there was light. Then he said let there be darkness and there was dark . Then he said let the light be called day and the dark called night. Then he said let there be vast water and then he called it streams and rivers. Then he made land. After that god created great whales and every other living creature in the world today. Then he created man, he told man not to eat from a special tree. Man disobeyed.

After that Tim taught us a song.

In class 9 we have been learning about our new topic in Science which is the Earth, Sun and the Moon. We have learnt some new things and have been doing some demonstrations in groups of how the moon orbits the earth using different sized balls to represent each object.

In Literacy, we have been writing our own legends, based on the great story of Bedd Gelert. We have really enjoyed this writing and are looking forward to our work going on display in the classroom.

We have had lots of fun in the snow outside this week. Year five and six have been throwing snowballs at Mr Darby at lunch time and we have been making snowmen. We hope the snow continues!!

We all enjoyed our Christmas break and we are looking forward to our learning this term. On our first day back we all shared our Christmas and New Years news and it was lovely to hear about all the presents everybody had. Our new topic is ‘The Viking’s’ which we are looking forward to researching. In science we have already done our first investigation finding out about the hardness of rocks.
