Girl’s Football

Thursday, February 14th, 2013

On Tuesday 12th February, Oakwood Junior School girl’s football team played in the Derbyshire county finals. They played their hearts out and gave it their absolute best. Despite not getting through, they had great fun and displayed a great enthusiasm and joy! In addition to this, Oakwood’s Girls want to say a massive thank you to their coaches Mr Higgins for his excellent hard work letting us have a chance to play and Miss Latham for her talented skill at football to train the girls. The games were very tough, having played fully trained school teams who have a bit more experience than the Oakwood Girls. Despite all this, the girls are all ready to give their all  in their future matches!

Class 3

We’ve been studying rocks and soils in science. We did some research in the ICT suite.

Rocks are every where! You can find them along a beach, in deserts, on mountains and in fields. Soil is made of minerals, air, water, plant and animal material. You could find earth worms, mites, millipedes, centipedes , grubs, termites and other animals both large and small in soil.

This week in class 12 we have been designing bridges to make some amazing models in Design and Technology. We have also been working, planning and acting out a debate for our literacy lesson on whether or not children should have access to the internet.

We have also been celebrating the achievements of some of the children in our class. Madison  is one of the lucky people from our class to be on top table. As well  as Madison getting the top table award, Samantha  and Jack  have been busy copying up their outstanding letters, trying to persuade a company boss to give them a story telling duvet for free, all for the excellent and achievement board. We also need to congratulate the two football teams, boys and girls, on getting into the county finals in Chesterfield.

Next week we are looking forward to our trip to Matlock Bath, where we will be taking part in a river study. We are also looking forward to the new credit system in school. Who will be the first person in the class to receive a credit?

All of class 12 want to give a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to MRS CIVVAL on having her new BABY. We cannot wait to find out whether it is a boy or a girl. What is your guess?
