Sports Award!

Thursday, October 23rd, 2014

Amazingly Oakwood have won another sports award for the hard work and dedication of our children and staff.

We were nominated for Best Sporting Experience 2014 and came away from the awards ceremony with the winner’s trophy.

We were worthy winners because of our Gold mark in Sport that we achieved in July and because of how sport has had a positive impact on attitude and behaviour in school.

As well as this, Mr Higgins was awarded the runners up Award for the Community Coach of the Year. What an achievement!

The Rainforest

We have been learning about the rainforest. There are different layers: there is a forest floor, understorey, canopy and emergent layer. There are animal like tigers, snakes, jaguar, ant eaters, butterfly’s, spiders, frogs, parrots, tigers, sloths and more! We are also learning about Deforestation -lots of people chop down trees and don’t understand what they are doing to animal’s habitats and the world. 36 football pitches is the amount of trees that get chopped down 1 minute of every day.

In English we have been reading The Lorax by Dr Suess in our class because it is a amazing book and film with a happy ending. We are writing a children’s story to read out to the infants so we are all trying to do our very best. At the moment we are watching the film of it and it’s really funny because the little boy broke down the town wall with a big machine! It’s set in a beautiful land and the characters are
• Singing fish
• Bears
• The Lorax
• Oncler
• Granny
• Mum
• Ted
• O’Hare
