Richard Felix

On Thursday 23rd March Richard Felix came to visit the year 3s in our school. He is a Derby historian and is known as a ghost walker. He educated the children about Victorian times and he also told them about Florence Nightingale. He bought lots of artefacts to show the children. He went in all 3 classes in year 3, all of the children loved it! We would like to thank Richard Felix for coming into our school and teaching the children whilst doing fun things with them.

Wednesday the 8th

Tuesday, March 21st, 2017

Last week on Wednesday 8th March, thirty-five children (both boys and girls) from the choir went on a breath taking trip to Wembley Arena in London.

This was an unforgettable once in a lifetime opportunity. Also this performance included over six hundred schools, which meant there were over ten thousand children.

Furthermore, there were two surprise guests called Reggie ‘n’ Bolli and Roadtrip. They both did amazing songs.

All the children that went will never forget this night. This would never be possible without our amazing teachers Mrs Sykes, Miss Conlon, Mrs Hoggetts, Miss Chapman, Mrs Russel and of course our outstanding Head Teacher Mr Darby.

On the very next day, a group of girls went to the Celebration of Dance, which is a festival where young girls and boys dance. This had a Disney theme. The song they danced to, was called “A Whole New World” from the movie Aladdin.

There was about one thousand one hundred children and teachers. This was organised by a wonderful year five teacher, Miss Britain. A couple of weeks ago, 4 boys and 2 girls went to a basketball competition, which was a county final, and they amazingly came back with gold medals around their necks!

Each individual player won their own trophies and the team were rewarded a big trophy for the school.

book day

Thursday 2ND March 2017

On Thursday 2nd March world book day was upon us. Many children took part and had amazing costumes of characters out of children’s books.

Near the end of the day all pupils took part in The Bumper Book Quiz. Before time to go home Mr. Darby announced the winner of The Bumper Book Quiz -which was Eagles- and the people with the best costumes.

I really enjoyed this year’s world book day. It was probably the best one yet – Mrs. H (the organiser of world book day in our school)
