Lea Goodwin - Parent Governor

Since my child entered Oakwood Junior School I have been incredibly impressed with the care and education she has received including the progress she has been able to make even through the difficult covid-19 pandemic and home schooling.  I am extremely keen to give something back to the school who have given so much already to my child and the other pupils, hence me becoming a parent governor.  

In terms of my skills set and background, I am an emergency services control room 999 call handler and despatcher with Derbyshire Constabulary, I have a good knowledge of safeguarding and the multi agencies involved with child protection. I also have a number of years of experience within Health & Safety and the legislations surrounding this in line with unions. I have experience in and understand the processes within the human resources role. I am also a parent governor for Oakwood Infant School which I started in January 2020 and am currently learning more about the role of governors, finance and safeguarding.  

I have a good understanding of the needs and welfare of the students academically and understand the challenges they have had to overcome in the last year especially for children with additional needs.
